The group left Sydney Town on 19 June 1853 for the four day walk to Camden. Bullock-drawn drays transported the Macarther agents, children and goods but most of the group had to walk for four wet and miserable days in the middle of winter.

The day of their arrival at Cobbitty turned out to be brilliant sunshine and they moved in with pre-arranged established families until slab houses could be built on their selections. Over the next couple of months, both neighbours and workers from the Macarther estate helped in building and settling in of the new families.2

Bowral Free Press, Bowral, NSW, AustraliaG1 May 1895Susannah Buffham had an obituary appear in Bowral Free Press, Bowral, NSW, AustraliaG, on Wednesday, 1 May 1895 as follows: Death of Mrs Charles Loiterton
It is our sorrowful duty in this issue to record the death of Mrs Charles Loiterton, which sad event took place on Monday evening last, at her daughter's (Mrs J J Campbell's) residence, in the 85th year of her age. During the past week the deceased had been noticably improving in health and appetite, but when the last hour drew nigh for her to depart from this world, she lay calm and still, until her spirit passed peacefully away in the presence of her two daughters, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Bensley. The merest intimation of the approaching dissolution was given only half-an-hour before actual death. In her case the heart had ceased to work through age. Mrs Loiterton never liked to be alone, nor even for Mrs Campbell to be away from her for ever so short a time. She enjoyed the conversation of her friends very much, especially the Rev. J Penman's quiet little chat, and to which she often alluded during her last few days here.
The deceased was born in Lincolnshire (Eng.) on the 17th May 1810, and was married in 1838. She, with her husband and family of 5, left England together for Australia, landing in Sydney on June 16, 1852. They went straight to Camden, and after a few years removed to Bowral. After residing here for a short time, she moved to Cootamundra, where she stayed until her husband's death, which took place on August 2, 1882. Mrs Loiterton again moved back to Bowral to her daughter's, (Mrs Campbell's) residence, where she has remained ever since, excepting a couple of short absences to Cootamundra, where her sons live. About 5 1/2 years ago Mrs Loiterton took her last trip to Cootamundra, and since then she has scarcely been out of the house through age. She was not a great sufferer, but latterly became very helpless physically. Up to last she maintained her faculties. Her descendants, we believe, number 5 children, 27 grand children, and 20 great grand-children.
The funeral will start this afternoon at 3 o'clock, for the Wesleyan cemetery at Burradoo.3

Mr. William Wainwright Perks, a well known and respected resident of Young, died in the Emergency Hospital, Young, last evening from pneumonic influenza, after about a week's illness. Deceased, who was 48 years of age, was born at Burrowa and was a son of the late Patrick Perks and Mrs. E. Perks, of Main Street, Young. He was a brother of Messrs Joseph, Harry and Dunstan Perks, his sisters being Mrs. A. Wales (Marengo street) Mrs. E. Begg (Main street, Young), Mrs. A. Plumb (Gunning). The Burrowa News, Burrowa, NSW, AustraliaG25 July 1919He was mentioned in an article in The Burrowa News, Burrowa, NSW, AustraliaG, on Friday, 25 July 1919 as follows:

Death of Mr William Perks

One of the saddest deaths that have occured at Young for a long time is that of Mr. William Wainwright Perks, who succumbed to pneumonic influenza in the Emergency Hospital last week, aged 48 years. The deceased got the influenza in the ordinary form about three weeks ago and went to bed for a few days. He had a contract on Memagong station, and although he had not been long out of bed drove a man out on Wednesday week. He stayed there for the night, and on his return home felt so ill that he went to bed again. He had evidently caught a relapse as he grew worse, and on Thursday of last week was taken to the Emergency Hospital in a serious condition. He was a son of Mrs. Eliza Perks, of Main Street. He was borne at Boorowa and married at Yass. A widow and five sons and two daughters are left to mourn their loss. The eldest of the family is a son aged 20 and the youngest a daughter aged 3. Five are at home to be cared for. Mr. D. Perks, teacher of Tumbleton School, is a brother, and Mesdames Albert Wales and E.E. Begg (Young) Sisters. Mrs. A. Plumb, another sister, resides at Gunning, and two other brothers, Messrs Henry and Joseph at Millthorpe and Condobolin respectively. The remains were interred in the Methodist portion of the cemetry, Rev. A. E. Putland conducting the ceremony and Messrs. Patterson Bros, the funeral arrangements. - ' Chronicle.1'
